Hays, Donna
Hays, Donna
She married who she considered the best man in
the world, Oden Hendricks. They eloped to Tooele Utah, and were married by a justice of
the peace. His fee was $5.00, but since they only had four dollars, they
folded them up, gave it to him, and ran out after the ceremony very
quick. Donna went back with her parents to live for a short while, not telling
them she was married. When Ode came to get her, Dee Lora Hays (her father) chased
him away with his cane flying in the air.
They lived in Salt Lake for a while, where First child Gay was born then they moved to San Francisco where Becky was born. In the late 50's they built
a house, almost entirely by themselves, in Mill Valley, California. Donna went to work as a telephone operator, then as an executive house
keeper at the Saint Francis Hotel.

Edward Davis Hays was born March 24, 1913 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The son of Dee Lora and Stella Davis hays. He lived his early years in Salt Lake City; Paris, Idaho; Evanston, Wyoming; and Kalispell Montana. He was the sixth child in a family of 10 children, three of whom have preceded him to their rest.
His brother James Monroe, sisters Ethel, Jean, Cora and Donna are here at this time. A sister Mary was unable to attend.
Edward, or Ted as he was known to his friends and loved ones, was an ardent fisherman-hunter, and loved sports of all kinds.
He married Charlotte Lichfield of Etna, Wyoming on 16 May 1936 in Salt Lake City. To this Union were born four sons and one daughter. James, Jesse, Robert, Jean Charlene and John Dee. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple.

Ted was an expert at anything he attempted to do, in that he had the patience of the technician. He was an excellent photographer, fly tier, builder of archery tackle. He was at one time Utah State Target Archery champion and served for two years as a director of the Utah State Archery Association. He was a heavy duty truck driver for 13 years, engaged in produce hauling and supply. He worked in the government service as an inventory auditor and then became an IBM technician-operator. In this capacity he was occupied until a week before his death. He had been a salesman also.
He took pride in his family and his church. He had a deep and quiet faith. He was loyal to his friends. He never spoke ill of people, contending that if no good was to be spoken one should not speak.

Hays, Edward Davis (Ted) - Fishing with Bow and Arrow
If you had been there you would be able to see the line attached to the arrow. Dad was trying out the art of fishing with bow and arrow. It was taken in the 40s as I remember the event. He even had made a special arrow using a point that had collapsable barbs when it entered the fish that would spread out when the line was pulled so the fish would not slip off the arrow. -- Jesse W. Yes she has a son named Harley and he is named after Harley LeMay. As I remember Harley and George Russel were best friends.
One of them saved the others life in WWII

After Harley's wife died and Uncle George died.. The two great friends married and have had about 10 wonderful years together.

One of my favorite memories is of their wedding in my home. Aunt Donna flew in and we had a great time. They were so cute and so happy.
